About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a growing property management company in Madison to hire an Area Manager to oversee a portfolio of beautiful affordable housing communities, including newer properties in the Madison market. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, building strong teams, and creating a positive experience for both residents and staff.

 

The company is looking for an experienced property management professional with LIHTC / affordable housing experience who can step in as a strong leader, support multiple sites, and help continue building a collaborative and resident-focused culture. The properties are well maintained, newer communities with strong ownership support and a team that truly values professionalism, communication, and resident relationships.

 

This is a highly visible leadership role where you will have the opportunity to make a real impact across the portfolio while working closely with site teams and company leadership.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

• Oversee operations across multiple affordable housing communities in the Madison area

• Support, mentor, and lead Property Managers, Leasing staff, and onsite teams

• Ensure properties are operating smoothly while maintaining high occupancy and resident satisfaction

• Partner with site teams on leasing strategy, renewals, resident concerns, and overall property performance

• Conduct regular site visits to ensure communities are well maintained and operating at a high level

• Assist with budgets, reporting, financial performance, and operational planning

• Ensure LIHTC / Section 42 compliance standards are consistently maintained across properties

• Support audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory reporting as needed

• Help create a positive, team-oriented environment where employees feel supported and residents feel at home

 

What They’re Looking For

• Previous experience overseeing multiple properties as an Area Manager, Regional Manager, or Senior Property Manager

• Strong affordable housing / LIHTC experience required

• Knowledge of Section 42 compliance and Fair Housing regulations

• Someone who enjoys being present at the properties and building relationships with teams and residents

• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Experience with property management software preferred
