Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Location: Madison, WI
Shift: 2nd or 3rd Shift Available
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing organization seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician / Mechanic to support equipment reliability and overall production performance in a safe, team-oriented environment.
This role is critical to ensuring assembly and fabrication equipment operates efficiently and safely. The level at which candidates are hired (Technician vs. Mechanic) will be determined based on education, experience, and performance on the maintenance entrance exam.
Schedule Options
2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, approximately 1:30pm – 9:30pm
3rd Shift: Sunday–Thursday, approximately 9:30pm – 5:30am
Shift premium applies.
Compensation

Base Pay: $28.25 per hour

Shift Premium: $2.50 per hour

Skill-Based Pay Progression: Up to an additional $13.25 per hour

Earn increases by completing company-paid maintenance courses
-
Additional increases available during the first three years of tenure or until all required courses are completed

Key Responsibilities
-
Maintain and repair assembly line and fabrication equipment
-
Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems using schematics, prints, and PLC systems
-
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on plant equipment
-
Document work orders accurately in the CMMS system
-
Conduct root cause analysis using 5-Why methodology and implement countermeasures
-
Adhere strictly to all safety standards, including LOTO procedures
-
Order and manage replacement parts
-
Operate equipment such as forklifts and man lifts
-
Train employees on maintenance procedures and techniques
-
Maintain clean and organized workstations
-
Communicate effectively across teams using phone, email, chat, and in-person communication

Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
-
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
-
Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics and utilize PLC systems for troubleshooting

Experience with CMMS systems

Proficiency in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

Awareness of Hazard Communication and MSDS

Ability to use various hand and machine tools

Strong computer skills and numerical ability

Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Flexible schedule availability

Strong attendance record
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Ability to stand up to 10 hours per day

Ability to perform reaching, pulling, pushing, grasping, bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, and fine manipulation

Ability to work with fiberglass, plastics, glue, and insulation materials

Experience with 5-Why analysis
