Schedule: Full-Time | Year-Round
Reports To: Director of Facilities

Position Overview

The Lawn & Grounds Lead is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of outdoor spaces across a large residential and/or commercial property portfolio. This role is hands-on, leading day-to-day lawn care, landscaping, and snow removal operations while coordinating seasonal work, overseeing equipment, and guiding grounds staff or vendors as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds & Lawn Maintenance

  • Perform and oversee mowing, trimming, edging, aeration, fertilization, and general lawn care
  • Maintain landscaped areas including trees, shrubs, flower beds, mulch, and hardscapes
  • Identify and address turf, drainage, and landscaping issues proactively
  • Ensure all properties meet company appearance and curb appeal standards

Snow & Ice Management

  • Lead snow removal operations including plowing, shoveling, salting, and ice mitigation
  • Monitor weather conditions and respond during early mornings, evenings, weekends, and emergencies as required
  • Ensure sidewalks, parking lots, entrances, and common areas are safe and accessible

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and support grounds crew members; assign daily tasks and ensure quality completion
  • Coordinate with property management on priorities, schedules, and seasonal needs
  • Assist with training new team members on equipment use and safety procedures
  • Work with third-party vendors when applicable and monitor performance

Equipment & Safety

  • Operate and maintain lawn, landscaping, and snow removal equipment
  • Perform routine inspections and basic repairs; report larger maintenance needs
  • Follow all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and company policies
  • Ensure proper storage and care of tools, equipment, and materials

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with site clean-ups, storm damage response, and special projects
  • Document work completed and report issues requiring further attention
  • Support other maintenance or facilities needs as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of lawn, grounds, landscaping, or snow removal experience
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate mowers, trimmers, plows, skid steers, snow blowers, and related equipment
  • Strong understanding of seasonal landscaping and snow operations
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and use of equipment
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons and snow events
