Attorney – Family Law & Litigation

Greater Madison Area, WI | Hybrid or Remote Flexibility
Expected Annual Earnings: $100,000–$125,000 | Base Salary + Production-Based Compensation

You can take ownership of your cases and still have a team to turn to.

An established local law firm in the Greater Madison area is seeking an attorney to handle family law and civil litigation matters. This opportunity offers direct client relationships, room to exercise your judgment, and flexibility in where you work—with a collaborative team available when you want another perspective.

If you enjoy practicing law, helping clients work through difficult situations, and managing cases without unnecessary layers of oversight, we’d welcome a conversation.

Why This Role May Be Worth a Conversation

  • Flexibility in how you work. Hybrid or remote arrangements are available, with attendance at required court appearances and in-person client meetings.

  • Ownership of your cases. Develop strategy, build client relationships, and guide matters from consultation through resolution.

  • An approachable team. Work in a collaborative environment with an open-door policy and colleagues who are available to discuss cases.

  • Compensation tied to your contribution. Expected annual earnings of $100,000–$125,000 through a base salary and production-based compensation, depending on experience, workload, and production.

  • A down-to-earth office. Enjoy a casual office atmosphere, with professional attire for court and other appropriate settings.

The Work

Your practice will focus on family law and civil litigation, with responsibilities including:

  • Representing clients in divorce, custody and placement, support, paternity, and post-judgment matters.

  • Handling civil litigation matters based on your experience and the firm’s needs.

  • Meeting with clients, evaluating their circumstances, and explaining practical options and next steps.

  • Developing case strategy and preparing pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements.

  • Representing clients at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.

  • Managing deadlines, client communication, case documentation, and billing records.

  • Collaborating with attorneys and support staff to keep cases moving.

Who We’d Like to Meet

We’re looking for an attorney with an active Wisconsin law license in good standing, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate clearly with clients.

Family law experience is welcome, but attorneys with civil litigation experience who are interested in developing a family law practice are also encouraged to apply. Prior courtroom experience is strongly preferred.

You should be comfortable managing your responsibilities independently, staying organized, and asking for input when a case would benefit from another perspective.

Compensation and Work Arrangement

The position includes a base salary plus production-based compensation, with expected total annual earnings of approximately $100,000–$125,000. The firm will discuss the base salary, production formula, and how the components work together during the interview process.

Hybrid or remote work is available, with travel required for court appearances and occasional in-person client meetings. Specific office and court locations will be discussed during the initial conversation.
